The Rising Sun Cooperative

Beep Studio has recently been supporting the Rising Sun Housing Cooperative in ambitious plans to acquire and adapt the building that has housed six years of the group’s creative enterprise.

The former pub is currently home to eleven residents, all of whom use the space as both a home and working environment. The property offers wide ranging facilities including a recording studio and a multi-purpose space for fashion design, dance, and music. Beep Studio’s proposals look at ways to expand residential capacity, and provide detailed commentary on potential energy saving adaptations to the fabric of the historic building.

It is a pleasure to work with this lively and proactive group, and to help bring their creative enthusiasm into a reality that can be shared with mortgage providers and create a well calibrated loan stock offer. The group actively promotes LGBT, BAME and gender equality through their operations, events and outreach, and we wish them every success in achieving their goals to secure much needed accessible and safe space for creatives and producers in South East London.

The newly formed cooperative gained funding support from Community Led Housing London.
