Voids Art Trail
A series of artworks to enliven a string of vacant shops in South London.
A lipstick-marked teacup and luncheon voucher symbolising local party host Cynthia Payne.
This diverse series of artworks dotted along Streatham High Road are connected by a theme of People:
Each piece represents a well known Streathamite through tangential references, creating a series of visual puzzles for curious passers-by to unravel.
Beep Studio designed the pieces, which were then implemented by a team of painters, printers, set decorators, and graffiti artists drawn from the Studio’s wide network of world class contacts.
A large red newt stands in for former London Mayor Ken Livingstone - a famous newt fancier, also known as 'Red Ken'.
Actor Peter Davison - the 5th 'Doctor Who' - represented by a disappearing Tardis painted by artist Emma Harrison.
The project was initiated by inStreatham with the support of local businesses.
Special thanks to Ronzo, Attai, Emma Harrison, and to Castleton Signs.
