Horniman Bollards

Placemaking in South East London

This speculative project responds to the local issue of place making in Forest Hill, whose street-scape lacks identity. At the same time, it is home to the Horniman Museum, one of South East London's top visitor attractions.

Beep Studio recognised an opportunity to connect the museum with the public realm for their mutual benefit, and the Bollards proposal followed.

The Horniman is best recognised by its iconic clock tower, which the project reinterprets as a string of bollards. Together these form a trail which leads between the Horniman and high street, and thus connects museum visitors with local businesses and the resident population.
